THE fourth annual Yorkshire Agricultural Machinery Show (YAMS) will see more than 200 trade stands showcase some of the world's leading brands of machinery and equipment.

Tractors, combine harvesters, grain trailers, livestock trailers, balers and every other type of farm equipment will be on display at York Auction Centre in Murton on Wednesday, February 8.

All of the county’s best known multi-depot farm machinery specialists such as Russells, Ripon Farm Services, Scrutons, BRM, Farmstar, Seward Claas and many others will be displaying machinery and new product launches from all the major manufacturers.

The new equipment includes Manitou's NewAg machine on the Russells stand and Lambert & Dyson will display their new hot pressure washer model that is powered from the tractor’s engine.

Richard Tasker, show organiser, said: "Yorkshire has such an enterprising farm machinery world. There are so many local engineering firms and family businesses, manufacturing some fantastic wide-ranging and bespoke equipment.

"They include some leading UK players such as Easterby, Graham Edwards and DRT Trailers, Sumo, Philip Watkins, Agri-Weld, NRH, Bainbridge Engineering – the list goes on.

"It is also great to see new people from the county too. It is the first time South Cave Tractors will have a stand, with their Unimog range; Clever Pasture with their compact machinery for grassland; CTM from Richmond with all-terrain tractors and transporters. It just goes to show how YAMS has become the place to come to in February each year."

Mr Tasker said YAMS had become a firm favourite in the Yorkshire farming calendar and had grown each year, making it important for the organisers to keep on top with re-investment.

He said: "First and foremost on our agenda for this year was traffic management and parking, following issues encountered with the increased attendance last year. This has included contracting in a professional traffic management company, improving on-site parking areas and acquiring additional off-site park and ride facilities.

"We are in an ideal position, centrally based in the county and this time of year is when many farmers turn their attention to thoughts of equipment they would like to invest in for the future. It’s a great time for the farm machinery world to show what is available and talk to more customers in one day than they could otherwise manage to see in perhaps a month."

The show also features the latest new technology and renewable energy news.
