A MOTORIST has received an apology from a garage after his dashcam footage showed a staff motor speeding in Nissan Juke.

Andrew Siggens had dropped his car off at Darlington’s Bristol Street Motors for MOT last year.

The 25-year-old alleges that someone from the garage was travelling at 54mph in a 40mph zone in the town.

“I was disgusted when I saw it - it certainly was a shock to see,” he said. “It’s not something you would expect to happen from such a big company. You hope to be able to trust them with your vehicle.”

Mr Siggens, from Hartlepool, dropped his car off at the McMullen Road branch for its annual check on November 15 last year.

He added that the alleged speeding could have landed him with three penalty points.

A spokeswoman for Vertu Motors, the dealership’s parent company, said an investigation had been carried out and the staff member concerned had received additional training.

She said: “We regret the incident at our dealership in Darlington and have conducted a thorough internal investigation in line with our company policy and procedures.

“Action has been taken with the colleague concerned and additional training has been completed by the team to ensure there is no repeat of this event.”
