LOCAL groups will benefit when the new-look Co-op store in Leyburn is relaunched.

The store will be re-opened on December 15 by pupils from the town’s primary school following a £1.1m investment to transform the outlet.

The refurbishment coincides with Co-op’s new membership offer, which gives members an automaticfive per cent personal reward back on purchases of its own-branded products and services - with a further one per cent reward supporting local community groups and charities.

Groups set to benefit in the Leyburn area are Leyburn Arts Centre, Leyburn Community Primary School Fund and Leyburn Guide and Scout Hall. Members of the Co-op can choose which they wish to support online.

Local causes interested in benefiting from the next round of funding only have until December 16 to apply by visiting https://causes.coop.co.uk/.

Store manager Jonathan Barker said: “We are committed to playing an active role in local life and embracing the area’s community spirit.”
