PEOPLE across North Yorkshire are being urged to have their say over the County Council’s budget reductions in the light of government cutbacks.

The council wants to hear what residents think about how it has gone so far and over the plans for the future. They are offering residents the chance to take part in a live web chat with council leader Cllr Carl Les and Chief Executive David Flinton on Tuesday December 13 from 5pm to 7pm. They want to hear what they think of the authority’s progress in cutting over £174m from budgets between 2011 and 2020., while trying to create an authority which can cope with future challenges.

Cllr Les said: “A similar web chat last year was informative for us and hopefully people who took part. We want to hear people’s views on the priorities that guide our work. They may have ideas about how we can improve on what we are doing. Everyone who lives and works in North Yorkshire has a stake in the county, so we hope people will take the opportunity to ask questions and share views.” Go to www.northyorks.gov.uk/budget
