PREPARATIONS are well underway for an evening of colourful pyrotechnic fun in the county town of North Yorkshire.
Northallerton will be hosting its 49th annual Firework and Bonfire Spectacular on November 5 from 5pm in the Applegarth.
The aim of the event, run by North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, is to provide a free, fun and safe Guy Fawkes Night for more than 6,000 local people to enjoy.
The night is organised by Northallerton Town Council with additional support funding from Romanby and Brompton parish councils and Simon Bailes Peugeot which sponsors the event.
To emphasise the community-based nature of the event there will be volunteer teams from both the Northallerton Street Angels and Rotary Club of Northallerton Mowbray collecting on the evening and asking everyone who attends to give generously.
Simon Bailes Peugeot is bringing Star Radio host Tim Lichfield to entertain the crowds and there will be live music from local bands and singers together with a range of food stalls.
The fun will start at 5pm with the bonfire being lit at 7pm followed by fireworks at 7.30pm.
