POLICE are hunting vandals who killed a pedigree sheep after smashing several gates in a farmer’s field in east Cleveland.
The incident happened on the evening of Tuesday, October 19 when an off-road vehicle was taken onto fields in the Yearby area.
The Beltex sheep was found dead in a field with injuries suggesting that it may have been attacked by a person or possibly a vehicle.
Cleveland Police say this is not an isolated incident and officers are working hard to tackle rural crime across the force area and are calling on local residents to pass on any information they have.
Anyone with information about the incident should contact Paul Payne, the Rural Crime Officer for Cleveland Police, on either non-emergency number 101 or at ruralcrime.webmail@cleveland.pnn.police.uk
