PEOPLE struggling to get on the property ladder in North Yorkshire are being given the chance to buy new homes in one area.

Working is beginning on building seven two-bedroom houses at Dalton near Thirsk and they are being made available to first-time buyers under the Government’s Help to Buy scheme.

Under the scheme, the Government lends aspiring buyers up to 20 per cent of the cost of a newly built home. A five per cent deposit is needed and a 75 per cent mortgage makes up the rest.

Chris Patmore, director of Whitfield Homes, who are building the properties said: “Farefield Close is phase two of the development of new-build homes at Dalton. Phase One, Willow Bridge Lane, proved extremely popular, with many new homeowners buying off plan.”

“Buying a new-build home off plan is becoming more common as homebuyers fight to secure these more energy-efficient properties, with less maintenance and offering Help to Buy.”
