ORGANISERS of a dales flower festival had their work praised by the Lord Lieutenant of County Durham, after she officially opened it last weekend.
Sue Snowdon visited the flower festival, in Winston, Teesdale, which included more than 30 displays centred around the theme of the Queen’s nine decades.
The event was held at the village’s St Andrew’s Church, which was packed for the arrival of Mrs Snowdon, on Friday, August 26.
The three-day event raised £3,500.
One of the organisers, Joyce Wilson, said: “This event was supported by the whole community with everyone playing their part with the flower arrangements, helping on the doors, selling raffle tickets and the food supplied, which was fantastic.”
