A SUPERMAKET has been turned into a potential lifesaver – after installing a defibrillator to support customers and the local community.

The machine – which can be invaluable if someone suffers a cardiac arrest – has been fitted in the Tesco Express store in Bedale’s Market place.

Store manager Alistair Lewis said: “We are delighted to find another way to help our community.

“We know that having a defibrillator to hand, particularly in a rural area where medical assistance might take a little longer to arrive, can mean saving the life of someone suffering a cardiac arrest.”

Similar machines are installed in 907 of the company’s largest stores, however it has decided to extend the service into rural and suburban communities where the equipment is still sorely needed.
