AN INAUGUARAL summer ball has raised nearly £2,000 towards this year's Christmas lights display in Barnard Castle.
The event at The Hub was organised by the Barnard Castle Christmas Lights Committee.
Karen Bowers, of the group, said: "The event was a huge success and special thanks must go to Samantha and Ellen Brown.
"On the night there was live music performed by singer Anna Stainton along with a disco and a raffle, which was well supported by local businesses."
Mrs Bowers said the committee would love to make it an annual event.
