A TALENTED dancer has achieved her dream of winning a place in a national dance school at just 13 years old.
Chloe Tongue, from Northallerton, has been awarded a scholarship to The Hammond, a full-time vocational dance school in Chester after competing against dancers from around the UK to earn a place.
The school is just one of four in the UK which trains dancers under the age of 16. Chloe will board at the school, where she will carry out a minimum of three hours of dance a day in addition to normal school studies.
The dancer, from Northallerton School and Sixth Form, will begin her scholarship in September.
Although she has received a bursary to cover half her costs, Chloe’s family must find the other 50 per cent and have been fundraising in the district.
Chloe, who trains at The Sarah Louise School of Dance in Brompton and attends additional lessons at the Yorkshire ballet scholarship centre in York.
Chloe said: “My passion in life is dance and I’ve been dancing since the age of two. My dream is to become a professional ballet dancer.”
