JUNIOR cricketers have been given a bright new look for the summer – thanks to a local housebuilder.

Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire, has become the sponsor of the junior teams at Bedale Cricket Club for the forthcoming season.

And the club, which is based close to the company’s new Fox Covert development, in Aiskew, has now received a donation of £800 for new shirts for its entire junior division.

Club general secretary Paul Croft said: “We are delighted to receive this generous donation from Taylor Wimpey. The junior players love their new shirts, and they cannot wait to kick-start the season now.”

He added: “The new shirts look great, so fingers crossed they bring us some luck for the season ahead.”

Bedale Cricket Club features a thriving membership, with junior teams ranging from under sevens to under 15s, and two senior teams. The first team plays in the North Yorkshire and South Durham League, while the second team plays in the Nidderdale Cricket League.

The company’s marketing director Debbie Whittingham said: “The club creates superb opportunities for cricket enthusiasts, of all ages, throughout the region.

“We wanted to help the club with this boost.”
