A FAMILY carnival was spared the rain for its major procession through Northallerton High Street, as bands from across the country attended to entertain the crowds.
Northallerton Carnival saw a host of family fun taking place in the town's Applegarth Park, as well as throughout the High Street.
Attractions included monster trucks, a rodeo bull, fair rides and climbing wall.
John Forrest, president of Thirsk and Northallerton Lions Club which organise the event, said youngsters and parents could get involved in the children’s races which was a popular part of the day.
He said: “The event was sponsored by local businesses and it is designed to give the people of Northallerton some entertainment and enjoy a day of fun, with lots to keep children occupied.
“It was a fantastic day, with a parade of bands through the High Street at noon, led by the carnival queen in an open top vintage car, accompanied by a lion.”
The event was compared by Miss Teen Northallerton, 18-year-old Emily Austin.
Other highlights included races for children aged three to five, six to eight, and nine to 11; a demonstration by North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue; singers and dancers on the stage; static cars; birds of prey; and various stalls.
