A LONG-AWAITED cycle link between two communities is to be discussed at a meeting this month.

Mary Seaton, the SUSTRANS Cycle Network Development Officer for Yorkshire will be talking about the project to create a family-friendly cycle link between Stokesley and Great Ayton.

She will be speaking at the Stokesley and Villages Community Partnership’s annual meeting on July 13.

Mary is working closely with Stokesley Cycleways Group on the project and will explain how similar community-led schemes have been completed successfully elsewhere in the country.

The meeting will also provide an update on the range of projects supported by the Group over the last 12 months including the Battersby Junction Community Space, Great Ayton Station and the Living Leven projects.

Hambleton District Councillor Bridget Fortune said: “I have been chair of the group since 2009 and since then the partnership has played a key role in identifying and supporting those projects that make a real difference to the quality of life of our residents.

“The AGM provides an excellent opportunity to celebrate the efforts of those involved.”

All residents from across Stokesley and the surrounding villages are welcome to attend the meeting at Stokesley & District Community Care Association at Town Close, Stokesley at 7.30pm.
