A MAN was airlifted to hospital after suffering serious burns while burning rubbish.
The incident happened in Bishop Auckland, County Durham, on Sunday evening.
Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called at 6.55pm.
A GNAAS doctor treated the man at the scene for serious burns to his head, neck, arm and chest.
He was then flown to James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, where he was stable on arrival.
