YOUNGSTERS enjoyed some high-speed thrills of their own devising when they held their annual go-kart race.

Cundall Manor, an independent school based near Topcliffe, Thirsk, has held its annual race for a decade, always getting an enthusiastic response from pupils.

And this year saw a range of innovative entries, including a modified bath-tub, a barrel and many others alongside more traditional entries.

This year saw 34 entrants tackle the hill route and joint head John Sample said: “The event is a great way to bring the community together and have some fun.”

“The fact that we always have so many entries is testament to how much the parents and children love the event.”

Hundreds of parents, friends and family, cheered on the competitors as they descended the hill with varying degrees of success.

Marketing manager Paul Swalwell said: “The event always attracts some fantastically innovate entries and this year was no exception,

“A huge well done to all our pupils and parents who helped make the day so entertaining and special.”
