A MARQUEE dinner dance has been hailed a great success by blood cancer charity Bloodwise.
Organisers of the fifth Beating Blood Cancers Ball, near Leyburn on Saturday, May 14, said the night had been enjoyed by more than 400 guests who helped raise £21,500.

Julie Moffitt, who organised the event along with Andrew Moffitt and Nick and Hazel Oliver, said: “We had a wonderful dinner followed by entertainment from local and young bands, Sugartown and Belvoir Hill.
“I want to thank the Wensleydale fundraisers for their support, and to Haregill Lodge catering," she said.
The first ball was held in 2012 following Andrew Moffitt’s diagnosis of Non Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2011.

Mrs Moffitt added: “I became involved in the charity because my husband's diagnosis, and in the past four years we have been running the ball we have raised £122,000 for the charity.”
She added: “It was a fantastic night – we had a silent auction and a shot bar manned by young staff who are mostly family members and who all volunteered their time.”
