'NOREEN' (pictured) an 1873 single steam ploughing engine is expected to be the star of the show when historic engines more than 100 years old go up for sale.
Built by John Fowler & Co Engineers of Hunslet, near Leeds, she has a guide price of £40,000 to £50,000.
She is one of 600 lots from the Keeley Collection which is forecast to fetch in excess of seven figures when Cheffins auction them at Knowl Hill, Berkshire, on Saturday, May 14.
Other engines include 'Master John', a rare 10nhp T1 class ploughing engine (guide price £60,000 – £70,000) and 'My Delight', thought to be the only surviving small 8nhp class (guide price £50,000 – £60,000).
The collection was owned by vintage steam enthusiasts the late John and May Keeley, who ran the internationally renowned Knowl Hill Steam & Country Show in Berkshire for more than 30 years.
The sale also has 47 vintage tractors, including a 1928 Foden D Type Timber (guide price £150,000 – £180,000); 30 classic commercial vehicles, four penny farthings and a rare Otto bicycle (guide price £8,000 to £10,000). See cheffins.co.uk.
