A VERY Victorian lady is set to disembark for a special event at the Head of Steam – Darlington Railway Museum next month (June).

Tickets are now on sale for The History Wardrobe event which takes place at the North Road museum on Sunday, June 19, at 2pm.

‘A Very Victorian Lady’ tells the stories of a mother, millworker, milliner and emigrant through their clothes.

Marvel at the maternity corset; find out what to wear on the factory floor, and discover just how creative women made a living in the nineteenth century.

Sarah Gouldsbrough, acting museum manager, said: “The History Wardrobe event offers a rare opportunity to see everyday clothes in action as they tell the stories of the ladies who wore them.

“There will also be a unique display of original gowns and accessories from the Victorian era.”

Tickets are priced at £8.50, which includes admission to the museum and tea or coffee.

Museum officials say History Wardrobe performances are always popular and pre-booking is essential.

You can buy tickets by calling in to the museum or telephoning during opening hours between Tuesday to Sunday 10am to 4pm.
