A GROUP of brave staff and students had a strip torn off them at college - but it was all in a good cause.
Three plucky volunteers from Stockton Riverside College agreed to undergo a sponsored leg wax to raise money to help premature and poorly babies and their families passing through the Neonatal Unit at the University Hospital of North Tees.
Health and social care student Liam Palfreeman, who came up with the idea, said: “We have all been trying to think of suggestions and this was something a bit different that I could do."
Not to be outdone the student was joined by Access to Science teacher, James Wells, and apprentice Learning Resource Centre assistant, Tristan Smith.
The trio put their hairy legs in the expert hands of a team of Beauty Therapy students.
Braving the wax in front of crowd of spectators, the 19-year-old student from Norton said: “It seemed like a good idea at the time but it did get more painful as it went on.”
Despite the pain all three agreed that it was worth it knowing that they were raising money for such a good cause.
Students and staff from the college’s health and social care and childcare courses are taking part in a range of fundraising activities for Neoangels, a charity launched last year at the Stockton hospital.
