THE Moscow State Circus will return to County Durham next month.

Raby Castle, near Staindrop, in Teesdale, will host the circus from May 1 to 4, with a new production 7 Zhelany.

The production is based on the Russian folklore story of Cvetik-Semicvetik, or “the flower with seven colors,” by Valentin Petrovich Katayev where each of the petals represent a wish.

Wizard Wacko and side-kick NataliaMezentceva will also invite the audience to a enchanted garden to see feats of human achievement.

Director John Haze, said: "The artistes of the Moscow State Circus are really looking forward to returning to Raby Castle, they always love touring the historical sites of the UK and to be performing right in the heart of one is really special to them."

The show will begin at 5pm and 7.45pm on September 1 and 2 while it will be held at 3pm and 6pm on September 3 and 2pm and 5pm on September 4.
