THERE will be something for everyone at Thirsk auction mart's Spring Machinery Show on Tuesday. (12th)

Staged outdoors, between 10am and 4pm, it coincides with the mart's store cattle sale featuring up to 300 head which starts at 1.30pm.

Andrew Roberts, auctioneer and mart manager, who has organised the machinery show hopes farmers will have a look round its 20 trade stands and take the opportunity to have lunch in the mart's Gavel cafe and bar before visiting the store cattle sale.

"We weren't able to have the machinery show last year because we were just too busy but we have held it annually for five or six years and it has been growing," he said,"It is a popular event."

The trade stands include feed merchants, tag suppliers, fuel merchants, engineering firms, contractors, pressure washer suppliers, specialist power providers, and cattle hoof care companies.

The machinery features tractors from Kramer Allrad, McCormic and John Deere, all of which are the type that suit local conditions, particularly for arable farmers.

Polaris will also be displaying its new 2016 Sportsman ATV which comes in green and is said to have been engineered to be "the hardest working, smoothest riding ATV available."

The company will also display some of its range of accessories which include its Lock & Ride system where products are designed to be installed quickly, without hassle or the need for any special tools.

Storage boxes, tool bags and front and rear rack extenders secure the load, with countless tie-down points for bungees, straps and nets.

The ATV can be customised by mixing and matching accessories to meet the operators needs. Fitting a light bar, front and rear brush guards and A-arm guards can bring distinctive styling while protecting it off-road.

Each 2016 Sportsman is winch-ready with factory installed wiring built into the chassis. A winch is essential for heavy work and as a back-up for compromising conditions. Nylon rope is used, making the winch easier to handle than wire, and the handlebar switch fastens on with two screws and a quick clip wire connection.

Other accessories include a Polaris snow plough which installs in seconds with the Lock & Ride technology allowing the operator to drive up, clip in and go.

o Farming Help charities will attend between 11am and 2pm. There will also be farmer friendly health checks available together with British Red Cross basic and life-saving first aid, and Laurie Norris, North Riding & Durham NFU county adviser.
