THE team at family-run Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil have three reasons to celebrate.

The Yorkshire Wolds-based business has been included in the Guild of Fine Food's Best Brands Survey for the third year running.

Its flagship Natural Cold Pressed Extra Virgin Rapeseed Oil was placed second in the Oils and Vinegars Category for 2015-16.

Published by Fine Food Digest, the survey showcases the bestselling and best-tasting products available from delis, farm shops and food halls throughout the UK.

Jennie Palmer runs the farm-based business with husband, Adam. She said: "We're incredibly proud to have made the top three for the third consecutive year and we'd like to thank all of our loyal customers who have helped us achieve this accolade."

Adam Palmer has also been nominated in the Businessman of the Year category of the Yorkshire Choice Awards that recognise local, inspirational, people and independent businesses.

He will discover if he has reached the final at an awards ceremony at The Centenary Pavilions, Leeds United, on April 2.

He said: "The calibre of contestants is very high, but hopefully my customers, friends and family will all vote for me!" To vote, visit wetherbyhour.wufoo.com/forms/the-yorkshire-choice-awards-voting-form and vote by the end of February.

And the couple recently made their TV debut when they featured on James Martin's Home Comforts show – James Martin uses their oil.

A BBC team followed Mr Palmer as he talked about growing and pressing rapeseed oil and filmed Mrs Palmer making baked camembert with giant croutons with five-year-old son, Charlie, in the farmhouse kitchen.

The couple established the business in 2008 and today produce, blend and bottle a range of oils, dressings and mayonnaise on their Thixendale farm.

The oil is used in Michelin starred kitchens and is also available at farmers' markets, farm shops, delis and independent retailers.
