A BARNARD Castle community drama group is gearing up for its summer production.

The Castle Players, is preparing for this year’s production of Henry V - Shakespeare’s epic play about Henry’s campaign against the French and his famous victory at Agincourt six hundred years ago.

Director, Laurence Sach, said: “This is something of a departure for the Castle Players as this is the first time one of Shakespeare’s history plays has been produced.

“But Henry V is an ideal choice.

“It is highly theatrical and perfect for a large cast. Everyone will recognise famous lines such as “Once more unto the breach, dear friends…”, and many will be familiar with the numerous film and TV adaptations, but its proper home is the stage and especially in an outdoor production.”

Auditions will be held at the Barnard Castle Working Mens Club, on February 14 and 21.
