A GROUP which supports vulnerable adults across the Northallerton area has passed the Care Quality Commission’s (CQC) new inspection process.

The CQC recently changed how it inspects social care organisations, to bring the process in line with similar inspection standards such as the Ofsted school inspections.

Under the new system each inspection concludes with a clear result which is released publicly, defining how well a particular organisation provides its services.

The Avalon Group, which has a team based on Northallerton High Street, has attained a rating of ‘good’ for its Northallerton services which includes community support, specialist Dementia care and Shared Lives. The Shared Lives scheme involves trained carers allowing people with disabilities, mental health needs or dementia to move into their home and become part of their family life, either long-term or as respite or short care breaks.

The rating places the group amongst the top bracket of care providers.

The CQC’s report made special mention of The Avalon Group’s staff, saying “care plans are person centred and show individual preferences are taken into account. People receive personalised care and their privacy and dignity are respected.”
