AN actor who was once assistant director with the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) has brought his new play to one of the region’s village halls.

Artistic Director with New Perspectives theatre group, Jack McNamara has written and directed He Wore a Red Hat and will perform it with a cast of four at Hamsterley village hall in County Durham at 7.30pm on Thursday, December 17.

In this festive comedy, a group of amateur detectives band together to help solve crimes in their neighbourhood. But it all starts to go wrong when one of them decides to take sleuthing into his own hands. Believing he’s one step ahead, he begins to piece together what he thinks are a series of related crimes. But just when he thinks he’s onto something, a series of parcels arrive leading him to think twice about his plan.

New Perspectives is an East Midlands-based national touring company who have been presenting theatre to rural audiences for 40 years. Mr McNamara’s work has appeared at venues and festivals across the UK and USA, including the Edinburgh Festival, Southbank Centre and Soho Theatre.
