THE supreme overall beef championship at the 2015 English Winter Fair in Stafford, went to Red Hot Honey, a Limousin cross heifer from Mark Harryman and Sarah Warriner of Pickering.

The couple bought the April 2014-born heifer from Kevin Sparke of Hexham.

They were delighted to win. "My father and I actually bred her sire, Keskadale Eyefull, which makes it even more special," said Mr Harryman.

"This is her sixth championship; she also won her class at the Great Yorkshire and was the overall Limousin sired champion at Countryside Live."

"Red Hot Honey has a beautiful top line and great width," said judge Wilson Peters, from Perthshire. "Her head is very feminine and she also has very correct legs and good locomotion."

The auction which followed the cattle championships saw Honey sell for £7,600 to butcher George Cropper of Accrington Market, Lancashire.

Limousin sired animals won a host of other titles including the heifer and pedigree championships; baby beef champion and reserve; and the carcase champion and reserve.
