A FARMER is appealing for information after brazen thieves stole thousands of pounds of stone from his land in three separate attacks.
The crooks took 100-year-old stone from Carr House Farm, near Staindrop, in Teesdale, on November 16 and 18 and returned again on Tuesday night (November 24) to the shock of farmer, Brian Lee.
The 44-year-old, whose family has owned the farm for more than 100 years, said more than 175m of the stone from a wall leading to the farm had been taken in the attacks.
He is now appealing to the public in an attempt to find the culprits and have the stone returned.
“The gates are locked for the buildings and the yard but what can you do in the open countryside,” he said.
“It’s natural stone and even though we have had some stolen years ago it’s never been to this extent.
“I want people to look out for it and if anyone sees it to call the police.”
If you have any information call the police on 101.
