AITOR KARANKA has revealed that there will be no further arrivals at Middlesbrough before today’s deadline for emergency loans.

The Boro head coach, who is expecting striker Bradley Fewster to head for York City ahead of the 5pm cut off point, secured the services of Manchester City youngster Bruno Zuculini until the end of the year earlier this week.

But he has ruled out any further additions to his squad and is instead focusing on Saturday’s trip to Huddersfield, while it is understood Middlesbrough have knocked back Leeds United’s attempts to prise Kike away.

Karanka said: “There might be a few loans from the youth team, but the only senior team loan is Zuculini. We have extended his loan until January. He is the only one. We have an amazing squad and we don’t need any more at the moment.”

The Middlesbrough boss has also learned that Venezuelan defender Fernando Amorebieta has decided to quit international football.

Amorebieta, on loan at the Riverside from Fulham for the rest of the season, has had a chat with Karanka about his decision after recently withdrawing from a call-up for his country because of injury.

Karanka said: “I didn't know anything but my friend called me yesterday to let me know. I spoke with Fernando and he said he'd denied to play with the national team.

"But I'm not the person to speak about that. He gave me his reasons this morning, but I didn't know.”

Amorebieta is available for the trip to Huddersfield after recovering from the injury he picked up before the international break.

Midfielder Adam Forshaw has been added back into the squad after proving his fitness this week following a hamstring problem. He is competing with Zuculini to replace the suspended Grant Leadbitter at the heart of the midfield at the John Smith’s Stadium.

“Forshaw is now training with the team, Amorebieta is with the team and Jonathan Woodgate is with the team. I think that only Tomas Kalas is not with the team. He is not ready yet,” said Karanka.

“Tomas arrived back from the international team tired, we didn’t think it was too serious. But on the Tuesday he trained on his own and I had I expected him to train on the Thursday … but I told him to take his time because we have more players than just Tomas Kalas. He needs to be right.”
