CHAIRMAN of Darlington Civic Theatre Foundation, Charles Tompkins, hosted a private dinner on the stage at Darlington Civic Theatre on Friday, October 2.
The event launched the restoration and fundraising campaign and offered corporate guests a unique view of one of the finest Edwardian theatres in the country.
Guests became the stars of the show and enjoyed an exclusive behind the scenes tour of the theatre, dinner on the stage and live entertainment from Tenors UnLimited with support from local choir, Voices of Darlington.
Mr Tompkins, who presented the vision to bring the theatre back to its original splendour said: “This event was the start of our campaign and it was great to hear that everyone is in support of the exciting changes.
“The theatre plays a key role in the cultural life of the town and the wider region. Its restoration chimes perfectly with the plans for the Tees Valley to become Capital of Culture in 2025.”
