NEWCASTLE FALCONS can call on some returning World Cup stars as they attempt to secure a first Aviva Premiership win of the season at Northampton Saints tomorrow.

Falcons director of rugby Dean Richards has made six changes to the side that lost to Gloucester last weekend, with winger Giovanbattista Venditti making his club debut and Alesana Tuilagi making his first start of the season on the opposite flank.

The rest of the backline remains unchanged from the season opener, with Simon Hammersely at full-back, Adam Powell and Chris Harris in the centre, and Ruki Tipuna and Mike Delany filling the half-back slots.

There are a total of four changes in the pack, with Scottish international tight-head Jon Welsh making his debut following his return from World Cup duty, joining Rob Vickers and Scott Lawson in the front row.

Another swap in the second row sees Italy international Josh Furno switch with former England cap Mouritz Botha to pack down alongside Calum Green.

Tongan international Nili Latu joins Venditti in making his first start for the club on the openside flank, as Will Welch lies in wait on the bench after passing tests following a knock to the head against Gloucester.

The remainder of the back row sees a positional shuffle with Todd Clever moving to the blindside while Ally Hogg comes in at number eight, from where he will captain the side.

Newcastle Falcons: Hammersley, Venditti, Harris, Powell, Tuilagi, Delany, Tipuna; Vickers, Lawson, Welsh, Green, Furno, Clever, Latu, Hogg.

Replacements: McGuigan, Fry, Vea, Botha, Welch, Dawson, Catterick, Penny.
