A NEW seven-screen cinema for Catterick Garrison is due later this week.

Empire Cinemas will open its new complex as part of the £25m redevelopment of the Catterick Garrison town centre, Princes Gate, on Friday, October 23 - in time for the first screenings of the new James Bond film, Spectre, on Monday, October 26.

General manager Dave Thomas, who has 16 years in the cinema industry. said: "It was really important for us to be open for the release of Spectre so we’re really pleased and just want to get going.

“There’s something for everyone with Empire – from Empire Juniors getting cheap Saturday morning tickets to a Saverday Tuesdays, and Empire Seniors getting a competitive rate.”

He added: “What a great time to launch the cinema - with so many blockbusters coming up it’s the perfect place to catch the incredible Pan, Spectre and Star Wars: The Force Awakens later this year.”

The cinema, which has provided 40 new jobs, will include a Ben & Jerry's Scoop Shop plus an Empire Impact screen – boasting improved sound and picture quality.

Justin Ribbons, chief executive of Empire Cinemas added: “We are delighted to be opening the newest addition to the Empire family in Catterick and look forward to entertaining film fans from across the area for many years to come.”

In addition to the latest film releases, there will also be a variety of Empire Extra screenings, where customers can experience stage productions on the big screen - be it theatre, opera, ballet, music or sport.
