THE arrival of the All Blacks in the North-East was a dream come true for young rugby fans everywhere.

But for 11-year-old Rory Forster, from Heighington, near Darlington, the experience was that little bit extra special.

The youngster won tickets for the All Blacks' match next match against Tonga, after taking part in a ball-catching competition with members of the squad.

He was visibly trembling with excitement after receiving his ticket from All Blacks superstar Sonny Bill Williams.

Rory was in demand for press interviews and photographs after his moment of victory on the pitch.

He took it all in his stride, saying: "I am still shaking, but that was brilliant."

Also soaking up the historic event were Eddie Jones, 28, Joe Wynne, 29, and James Brannan, 28, all from Darlington.

Mr Jones said: “It is gutting that England are no longer in the World Cup, but this morning has been a fantastic experience.”

Julie Vincent, Matthew Harrison, Rebecca Morton and Peter Dent from Cedars Academy in Low Fell, Gateshead, were thrilled to witness the visiting athletes.

Mr Dent, a teacher from the academy, said: “We have some very talented athletes of our own at the academy, so it has been amazing to experience rugby at a top level.”
