VISITORS to York are set to be issued with codes of conduct to clamp down on drunken behaviour.
The move follows numerous incidents, including a Grand Central service to Northallerton, Eaglescliffe, and Sunderland being forced to stop twice between the city and Thirsk at about 9pm on Saturday.
The train operator had warned passengers on the 7.11pm service from King's Cross to expect rowdy behaviour from passengers boarding at the city.
Officers behind City of York Council and North Yorkshire Police's Had Enough campaign said the incident came as they attempted to crack down on inappropriate behaviour.
Copies of the code of conduct have been given all licensed premises throughout the city, stating antisocial behaviour will not be tolerated on trains, in the station, in the street or in licensed premises, and that inflatables, language or fancy dress which are considered offensive or inappropriate will not be tolerated.
