AN UPLIFTING experience was shared between care home staff and elderly residents with dementia as they joined voices to record a CD.

Willow Green Care Home staff from all levels including domestic, management and carers joined residents to record songs at Darlington’s Forum music centre.

The group recorded two songs – Lean on Me and We’ll Meet Again – for the CD which will go onsale at the home to raise money for the residents’ fund and Dementia UK.

Activities coordinator Nicola Laycock said the atmosphere in the studio was “fantastic”.

She added: “The song choices were meaningful because obviously we are a care home and people rely on us, but we also rely on other people for support too.

“We’ll Meet Again is special because we see a lot of people, some of them obviously we don’t get to care for for that long, but it is nice to think that we will see them again.”

Willow Green organises a range of activities throughout the year to raise money for Dementia UK and their next outing will be a Memory Walk leaving the home on Eastbourne Road at 11am on September 24.

The walk will wind round South Park before finishing back at Willow Green and all are welcome to join in.
