THOUSANDS of visitors turned out to enjoy this year’s Stockton Summer Show.

Despite the typical bank holiday weather, the two day event in the grounds of Preston Park Museum attracted large crowds over the weekend.

The event featured a whole range of activities for all the family to enjoy, from bird of prey shows and displays from the Stampede Stunt Show, to performances from a brass brand and crafts and specialist food stalls.

The Spectacular Knights of the Crusades, Battling Cumberland Giants and a traditional sheep show also featured over the two days.

Sunday’s programme included a special stage featuring live local musicians performing a variety of acoustic music, including the Middlesbrough Jazz and Blues Orchestra.

The event also played host to the 2015 Parmo World Championships, with Borge on Yarm Lane in Stockton taking home the title in the best restaurant category for the second year running.

Councillor Norma Wilburn, Stockton Council’s cabinet member for arts, leisure and culture, said: “The Summer Show is a very popular part of our events programme.

“The bank holiday weekend is a great opportunity for families to do something together and the Summer Show offers something for everyone.”

This year’s show provided visitors with the option of arriving by boat for the first time, following the installation of a new jetty earlier this year.

The jetty is part of the £7 million regeneration masterplan for Preston Hall Museum and Park which will see the hall itself restored and refurbished thanks to funding from both Stockton Council and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
