DRIVERS planning to visit Darlington this bank holiday weekend are being warned to expect roadworks at one of the entry points into the town.

Darlington Borough Council will complete resurfacing work on Bondgate on Sunday and Monday, August 30 and 31 as part of a highway maintenance programme.

In order to carry out this resurfacing work efficiently and safely the road will be closed to traffic between the junctions of Greenbank Road and the St Augustine’s Way ring road.

A diversion route will be sign posted and pedestrian access along Bondgate is unaffected by the closure.

An alternative route has also been agreed with the bus companies while the road is closed.

The work is expected to be completed on Monday although motorists are advised to be aware that the road surface may be uneven until the work is complete and to take extra care.

Drivers are also advised to allow more time for their journey via the diversion route.
