POLICE have confirmed the motorcyclist who died in a crash on a notorious North York Moors road was a 46-year-old man from Normanby.
North Yorkshire Police said Phillip Broadley died after the blue and white Suzuki GSXR he was riding left the B1257 and collided with a hedge.
An inquest into his death was due to open and adjourn.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash, which happened at about 8.10pm between Chop Gate and Great Broughton, near Stokesley.
Despite the efforts of paramedics, Mr Broadley was pronounced dead at the scene.
He was riding in company with another motorcyclist and pillion passenger who were riding a red Honda.
Dubbed the Helmsley TT by some motorcyclists, it forms part of a popular bikers' circuit through the county.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision, including anyone who was travelling along the road in either direction and saw the motorbikes before the crash to call 101 or email MCIT@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk
