JEREMAIN LENS will make his first appearance in a Sunderland shirt in this evening's pre-season friendly at Doncaster Rovers.

The Holland international, who completed an £8m move from Dynamo Kiev earlier in the summer, has been named in the starting line-up at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Sebastian Coates will make the first start since his loan move from Liverpool became a permanent transfer, while another summer signing, Younes Kaboul, is expected to feature as a substitute after being named on the bench.

Coates will partner John O'Shea at the heart of the back four, with the midfield trio of Lee Cattermole, Jack Rodwell and Adam Johnson perhaps providing an insight into Dick Advocaat's thoughts ahead of the Premier League opener at Leicester City a week on Saturday.

Further forward, it remains to be seen whether Sunderland field a three-man attack, or whether Lens is given a free role behind Jermain Defoe and Steven Fletcher.
