STUART HALL will embark on a new chapter in his boxing career on Saturday when he makes his Matchroom debut as part of the ‘Rumble on the Humber’ bill at Hull’s KC Stadium.

Hall, who has not fought since losing to Randy Caballero in an IBF World Bantamweight title fight in Monte Carlo last October, is in the process of severing his ties with his former promoter Dennis Hobson.

He is working with Matchroom, the promotion company led by Eddie Hearn with a lucrative tie-up with Sky Television, on a fight-by-fight basis, but there is a good chance he will be offered a longer-term deal if he proves his wellbeing at the weekend.

The Darlington fighter, who won the IBF world title when he beat Vusi Malinga in an epic contest in Leeds in December 2013, will step up to super-bantamweight to take on Edwin Tellez in a six-round contest in Hull.

He has based himself at a training camp away from the North-East for the last ten weeks to ensure he is in top condition for the fight, which has been scheduled for halfway through Saturday’s bill.

Provided he comes through the contest successfully, he will look to return to action quickly as he attempts to step back up to European and world level within the next 12 months.
