MIDDLESBROUGH enjoyed a successful outing as part of their Spanish training camp as they claimed a 3-1 win over League Two side Leyton Orient in a behind-closed-doors game in Marbella.
Albert Adomah, Adam Forshaw and Kike all found the target as Aitor Karanka continued his trend of naming entirely different starting XIs for each half of the game.
As was the case at York City on Saturday, youngsters Dael Fry and Lewis Maloney both featured in the starting line-up, and Boro claimed the lead shortly before the interval as Adomah latched on to Daniel Ayala’s long ball forward and slotted home.
The Teessiders doubled their lead shortly after the break when Kike helped tee up Forshaw for a close-range finish.
Leyton Orient pulled a goal back when one of their trialists converted from a corner, but Boro scored a third goal when Kike profited from some good approach play from full-back George Friend.
Middlesbrough First Half: Konstantopoulos; Nsue, Ayala, Fry, Husband; Leadbitter, Maloney; Adomah, Tomlin, Reach; Fewster.
Middlesbrough Second Half: Mejias; Kalas, Burn, Jackson, Friend; Clayton, Forshaw; Carayol, Cooke, Wildschut; Kike.
