A CENTRE which works to broaden their horizons of young people has announced a new experience programme that includes dry stone walling.
The service will provide opportunities for educational organisations, firms, charities and school groups at Carlton Lodge Activity Centre, Carlton Miniott, near Thirsk, to learn the traditional skill in a safe environment.
The centre's chief executive, David Sharp, said: “We have the stone on site and it is a great experience both in a practical sense and as a therapeutic exercise.
"It requires some physical prowess but the focus needed means that delegates and students are mentally absorbed by the challenge of working out the structural plan for the wall they are building”.
The courses are flexible, but are best carried out in groups of eight or 12 participants to foster team interaction. Bookings to take part should be made at least 12 weeks in advance.
