TWO sisters have thanked their supporters after completing a bike ride to raise funds for a permanent memorial to a teenager.

Kyle Hull, from Darlington, died in April after falling through a roof at Darlington Auction Mart.

Sisters Louise McAfee and Elizabeth Kearney biked the 54 miles from London to Brighton last weekend, along with Mrs McAfee's husband Dave.

They have already collected more than £1,000 which will be put towards a permanent memorial in South Park, where 15-year-old Kyle spent a lot of time with his friends.

Mrs McAfee has thanked Kyle's family and close friends, as well as all others who have donated.

Major backers of their ride included Carmel College, St Aidan's Academy, Hurworth School, the Art Shop, in Bondgate, Sainsbury's in Northallerton, the Half Moon pub in Barton and the mart itself.

Mrs McAfee said: "The signs are we have already collected over £1,000 but we are still collecting in the money. We are overwhelmed and grateful for the generosity from everyone for this very special young man.

"We hope that the memorial in South Park will encourage everyone back into the park to celebrate Kyle's life and remember the good times."
