A COMEDIAN touring the UK for a BBC Radio 4 series has been cracking up audiences in the North-East.
Barnard Castle is the fourth location to feature in the sixth series of Mark Steel’s In Town, a show which sees Steel create a stand-up show for local audiences based on what he finds out about the area.
The show will be broadcast on Radio 4 at 6.30pm on Tuesday, (June 9), before being repeated on BBC Radio 4 Extra and made available on the BBC iPlayer.
Peter Dixon, of Funny Way To Be Comedy and Radio Teesdale, encouraged the BBC production team to record the show in the town and supported the crew in their research.
He said: “It’s very exciting that the show is to air just seven weeks after it was recorded at The Witham in Barnard Castle.
“It is going to be fascinating to find out which 28 minutes of the evening has been included in the programme.”
Residents are invited to listen to the initial broadcast live together at the NesT Cafe and Gallery in Newgate, Barnard Castle.
Entry is free but numbers those wishing to attend should contact comedy@funnywaytobe.com.
