THE finalists have been announced for Yorkshire’s Favourite Pub 2015 after a record-breaking year of voting.

The final ten will now go head-to-head hoping to be crowned winner at the Great Yorkshire Show in Harrogate on July 14.

The competition, run by tourism agency Welcome to Yorkshire, saw the public nominate 850 pubs with a 60 per cent increase on last year in the number of votes cast.

In North Yorkshire the finalists include the Bull Inn at West Tanfield, near Ripon, the Royal Oak in Ripon, the Anvil Inn and Sawdon, Scarborough, and the Crown and Cushion at Welburn, near York.

The competition was first launched in 2011 to help promote Yorkshire’s variety of pubs and the top 30 nominated pubs will once again feature in Welcome to Yorkshire’s Ale Trail leaflet.

Welcome to Yorkshire chief executive Gary Verity said: “Yorkshire is known for its rich heritage and breathtaking landscapes but our welcoming collection of pubs are just as important in our bid to sell Yorkshire to the world.”
