WORK to resurface and repair a section of the A19 near Thirsk in North Yorkshire starts overnight from today.
The northbound carriageway between the A19/A61 South Kilvington Interchange and A684 Osmotherley Interchange will be closed overnight between between 8pm to 6am from today, Sunday to Friday). The work is planned to be completed by Saturday, June 20.
The closures will affect an 8.3 mile stretch between Nether Silton and Over Silton and Borrowby Junction.
During the day a 50mph speed limit will be in operation as traffic will be using a temporary road surface.
Diverted traffic will head northbound on the A19 and follow the diversion route via the A19/A61 South Kilvington Interchange to the northbound exit slip road.
Drivers will then continue on the A168 to Northallerton before joining the A684 Osmotherley Interchange northbound entry slip road and following existing signs back to the A19.
Highways England Project Manager, Kyle Maylard, said: “Sections of the carriageway will be resurfaced to provide drivers with smoother and safer journeys.
“We have planned the work to be carried out in phases and overnight, when traffic flows are at their lowest, to minimise disruption.”
