ORGANISERS of a North Yorkshire music festival are gearing up for the third annual event.

Bedale is expected to see hundreds of music fans hit the town for BAMfest – Bedale Acoustic Music Festival – a three day event from Friday, May 29 to Sunday, May 31 -featuring more than 60 acts in concerts, pubs, and on the streets of the market town.

Two marquees will be erected at Big Sheep Little Cow farm visitor centre – a main 250-seat marquee housing the main concerts including BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards Best Band - the Young’uns, plus Martin Stephenson and the Daintees, Blackbeard’s Tea Party, Henry Priestman, and Rod Clements from Lindisfarne.

New for 2015 is the introduction of a Farm Stage that will feature an eclectic mix of music alongside the main stage.

Other marquees will host children’s activities which will be taking place on Saturday, May 30 between 10am and 4pm and feature drama, drumming, ukulele and crafty workshops.

Carol Clark, chairman of BAMfest, said: “The BAMfest committee has worked extremely hard over the past 12 months to ensure the third festival is a huge success. "We have lots of local volunteers who are helping us this year for which we are truly grateful.

“Last year’s BAMfest gave a significant boost to the local economy and we are sure the same is going to happen this year.”

The festival bar will serve beers supplied by BAMfest’s main sponsor, the Masham-based brewer T&R Theakston, and there will also be a cider bar, run by Orchards of Husthwaite.

New sponsors to get behind BAMfest for 2015 include Taylor Wimpey, Mulberry Homes Yorkshire, GCS Grays, Halls of Bedale and Savage Graphics.

Tickets for BAMfest are available the festival office at Big Sheep Little Cow, 07925-817116, or www.bamfest.co.uk.
