A CHARITY is holding events during Carers Week to raise awareness of the services and support available to people who care for loved ones.

Hambleton and Richmondshire Carers Centre (HRCC) is organising a number of information events to mark the week, which runs from Monday, June 8 to Friday, June 12, across the region to highlight the challenges faced by carers and recognising the contribution they make to families and communities.

This year the focus is on building carer-friendly communities to support carers to look after their loved ones, while recognising they are individuals with needs of their own.

Andrea Hobbs, chief executive of HRCC said: “Carers Week is an important opportunity to both raise awareness of the needs of carers and to raise awareness of the services and support available to them.”

On Wednesday, June 10, there will be an exhibition and information session from 10am to 3pm in Northallerton Town Hall.

On Friday, June 12 young carers across the county are celebrated with Tie-Day Friday – a fund-raiser and awareness day.

There will also be information stands at the Station, Richmond from June 8 to 14; Friarage Hospital on June 8 to 9; Stokesley Library on June 8; Brentwood Surgery, Leyburn, from June 8 to 12; and Northallerton Library on June 11 and 12.
