GOALS from Emily Roberts and Courtney Sweetman-Kirk ensured Durham Women were defeated 2-0 at home by Doncaster Rovers Belles, who return to the top of FA WSL 2.

The Belles lost their unbeaten record and place at the summit when they lost 3-0 at home to Reading last time out.

But they showed no signs of a hangover at New Ferens Park where they condemned the Wildcats to a third straight league defeat thanks to goals by Roberts and Sweetman-Kirk .

Doncaster were on top early on with home keeper Helen Alderson saving from Sue Smith's fourth-minute shot after the England lady tried to curl one home.

However, the promotion-chasers were in front in the tenth minute when Kasia Lipka set up Roberts whose left-foot shot gave Alderson no chance.

Durham forced three corners in the opening 45 minutes but aside from coming out of her area to block Courtney Corrie, Nicola Hobbs was untroubled in the Rovers goal.

Doncaster dominated possession with Lipka, Smith and Sophie Barker dictating play, not allowing Durham a look in.

It was a pattern which continued in the second half although their control was not translated into openings.

But they sealed victory 13 minutes from time. Sub Molly Johnson put in a super cross from the right which Roberts lobbed deftly towards goal before Sweetman-Kirk forced it over the line.
