A FINALIST in a national beauty pageant is set to stage gymnastics and dance displays and a workshop to raise funds for charity and highlight the importance of exercise.

Stokesley School pupil and Miss Junior Teen Hambleton Lillie Jones will be supported by a ten-strong team from her gymnastics club, Tees Valley Gymnastics, at the event at the Forum, Northallerton, on Sunday (May 17), from 9pm to 3pm.

The 15-year-old said ahead of competing in the Miss Junior Teen Great Britain contest in Blackpool, in October, she wanted to take a lead role in educating and encouraging young people to be fit, develop confidence and to care about how they look.

Lillie said her drive would include raising funds for the competition charity, Together For Short Lives, which supports children with life-threatening and life-limiting conditions.

Lillie, of Hutton Rudby, said: "I am trying to find lots of ways to support the charity and am looking for sponsors."

The beauty competition's organisers said the event offers teenagers the chance to participate in a competition that combines glamour and celebrating their success and achievements, and would give the finalists a character-building experience.
